It is essential to recognise when our behaviour is hurting others; seeking support for this can be daunting, but support is available. Engaging with what has happened is vital to bring about effective change.

As a first step, we recommend submitting a Requesting Contact from an Advisor form (this will connect you to Student Wellbeing Services, or HR for staff). Note that we cannot guarantee confidentiality for anyone named in the report, if there are risk concerns.

If your contact with someone has become fixated, obsessive, unwanted and repetitive:

  • Do not make any further attempts at contacting them
  • Do not follow them
  • Do not show up in places where you expect them to be and have no reason to be yourself
  • Take responsibility for having caused them distress
  • Take actions to understand your behaviour, the impacts, and how to navigate future relationships – there are resources here to help you.
